According to the number of the screw shafts, spiral classifiers can be divided into two types: single-spiral classifier and double-spiral classifier; according to the height of the downflow weir, it can be divided into three types: high-weir type, low-weir type and immersed type.
The specific classification method is the position of the downflow weir is higher than the bearing center of the lower end of the spiral shaft. That the position of the downflow weir is higher than the upper end of the spiral shaft of the overflow end is high-weir spiral separator which has a sedimentation area, and this machine is suitable for the classification of coarse particles and can get first-class granularity bigger than 0.83-0.15mm. That whose overflow weir is lower than the bearing center of the overflow end is low-weir spiral separation which has a small sedimentation area and low production capacity, so that it is generally not used for classification, but for washing the ore sand for desliming. If the whole spiral of the overflow end is immersed under the liquid level of the sedimentation area, it is called immersed type spiral separator which has a big-sized area and depth of the sedimentation area, making it suitable for the classification of fine particles and can gain the overflow granularity of 0.15-0.07mm.
